Chocolate Mousse

Chocolate Mousse

When it comes to entertaining for the holidays, both Thanksgiving and Christmas get hectic. Between the holiday gatherings and gift-giving, food remains centerstage—but you have less time to manage the menu. Make things easy for yourself. Give your guests a party dessert full of cocoa goodness. My vegan plant based Chocolate Mousse wins top prize on several points for vegan pudding dishes.

Healthy and High Protein Dessert

For starters, this Chocolate Mousse is made with silken tofu as the base instead of gelatin. Along with holding the mousse in shape quickly and without animal-based gelatin, you are getting the protein from the soy in the tofu. This is one of the best sources of vegan protein on the market—and you can change the flavor so easily. Plus, most of us have tofu on hand at all times thanks to eating a vegan diet. You can easily whip this dish together even for a last-minute holiday dinner.

That’s why I use silken tofu for the base along with vegan chocolate chips and cacao nibs. You get the cocoa combo that is complex yet comforting—just what you want to serve to your guests for holiday parties and get-togethers. Tippling in the highest quality of pure vanilla extract will bring this chocolate pudding over the top. Speaking of the top, sprinkle on some flaky sea salt for the final touch. That will send this Chocolate Mousse over the moon and make for the perfect party dessert to send your guests home happy. The high protein in the soy tofu helps with stabilizing blood sugar so you aren’t left with a crash.

Combining Chocolate Pudding and Candied Pecans

Consider adding a sack of my Candied Pecans as a goodie bag to end the dinner and you are all set! Chocolate Mousse, vegan and made from plant-based ingredients is quick and easy—and super satisfying. Also, you can make the pudding ahead of time and let it set up in the refrigerator. However, the benefit of this Chocolate Mousse is that you can put it together with less than 5 ingredients in less than 10 minutes and serve it just as quickly.

  • Prep Time: 10 minutes
  • Cook Time: 5 minutes
  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Allergens: Soy
  • Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 1 cup vegan semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 pack (14-ounce) silken tofu
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Flaky sea salt
  • Cacao nibs

Instructions

  1. Place the chocolate chips in a small bowl and place it in the microwave, melting it in 20-second increments, stirring each time until it’s smooth. Or you can melt them on a stovetop using a double boiler.

  2. Add the melted chocolate, silken tofu, and vanilla extract to a blender or a food processor and blend it until it’s smooth.

  3. Spoon the mousse into desired serving dishes and garnish with sea salt and cacao nibs.

Bon appétit!
