Oat Milk

Oat Milk

Oat milk is a great alternative to regular or nut-based milk. It tastes really great with coffee, tea, and even cereal and cookies. Making oat milk at home is super-easy, does not require soaking oats overnight, and because you’re not pasturing the milk (like commercially made milk) it’s loaded with naturally occurring protein and vitamin D.

  • Prep Time: 5 minutes
  • Cook Time: 5 minutes
  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Servings: 3

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats (or gluten-free rolled oats)
  • 3 cups water (filtered)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract (optional)
  • 4 Medjool dates (optional)

Instructions

  1. Add oats, water, vanilla extract (if using), and dates (if using) to a blender and blend on high until smooth.

  2. Strain milk by pouring through a nut milk bag or cheesecloth into a pitcher or bowl.

  3. Use your hands to squeeze milk out of a nut milk bag or cheesecloth.

  4. Discard oat pulp (or save to use as face scrub!) and refrigerate milk. It will stay fresh in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.

  5. Shake thoroughly before drinking.

Cheers!
