Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon ground flax
- 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons organic cornstarch (or arrowroot starch)
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/3 cup coconut sugar
- 1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons tahini (mixed well)
- 1/2 cup dairy-free dark chocolate chips
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and line 9x9 baking pan with parchment paper cut to fit pan.
-
In large bowl, combine flax with 3 tablespoons water, then stir together and allow to sit for few minutes to thicken.
-
Add salt, baking soda, pure maple syrup, vanilla extract, cornstarch, cocoa powder, and coconut sugar to flax mixture (in that specific order), then whisk together ingredients until thoroughly combined. Batter will be very thick.
-
Stir in tahini and continue to mix until fully and evenly distributed. After mixture is thoroughly combined, you will be left with very thick and sticky batter.
-
Fold in 1/2 cup chocolate chips, then transfer batter to lined baking dish and spread out evenly. Place few more chocolate chips on top if desired.
-
Bake in oven for 25-30 minutes.
-
Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares and serving so squares hold together better.
