When I think of jaljeera, I think about the pani puri in the Begali Market. If you are from Delhi, you will know what I am talking about. I have nostalgia and so many memories of that market when I stared at the stall of Bengali sweets with friends, enjoying pani puri, a traditional North Indian street food that is hollow and fried, and filled with spiced potatoes and chickpeas along with jeera water. What I love about jaljeera is that it can be enjoyed with pani puri or on its own. I often want jaljeera in the summer for its cooling properties. This homemade jaljeera recipe is also a huge hit in our house for Diwali parties.
