Everyone loves a classic apple pie, right? It can be served all year round from the 4th of July to Thanksgiving to Christmas and beyond. This is a simple recipe with only apples, sugar, and spices, the key ingredient being truly fresh, quality apples. Once you have those, you don’t need anything else!
In a large bowl, whisk together sugar, flour, and cinnamon.
Add apples and mix with a large spoon until apples are evenly coated.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out 1 dough until it is about ⅛ inch thick.
Carefully lift the dough and fit it into the prepared pan, letting about 1 inch hang over the sides, and fill the shell with apple filling. Sprinkle with sugar for an extra sweet and crisp top.
Bake until the crust is nicely browned (about 50-55 minutes).
Remove from oven and let the pie rest for 15-20 minutes on a cooling rack before serving warm or at room temperature.
