Baked Okra Fries
My kids have always shied away from okra, until I started making this baked okra recipe. These are just like French fries -- nice and crispy, and you can never have just one!
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds fresh okra
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon chat masala
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions
- Wash okra and either air dry or dry it with a kitchen towel. Okra must be dry, otherwise it will be slimy when you cut it.
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
- Place okra in the center of a large rimmed sheet pan and drizzle oil over top.
- Add all seasonings and toss well to coat.
- Spread okra out in a single layer.
- Roast in the oven for 18-20 minutes, shaking pan once after 10 minutes to turn okra.

I’m so used to cooking okra Indian style as a main dish. I love this baked snacky version. It disappears minutes after it comes out of the oven!
