Classic Apple Pie
Classic Apple Pie
Everyone loves a classic apple pie, right? It can be served all year round from the 4th of July to Thanksgiving to Christmas and beyond. This is a simple recipe with only apples, sugar, and spices, the key ingredient being truly fresh, quality apples. Once you have those, you don’t need anything else!
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup sugar, (plus extra for sprinkling)
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 6 apples, (peeled, thinly sliced)
- 1 vegan pie crust
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
- Lightly grease a 9-inch pie pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together sugar, flour, and cinnamon.
- Add apples and mix with a large spoon until apples are evenly coated.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out 1 dough until it is about ⅛ inch thick.
- Carefully lift the dough and fit it into the prepared pan, letting about 1 inch hang over the sides, and fill the shell with apple filling. Sprinkle with sugar for an extra sweet and crisp top.
- Bake until the crust is nicely browned (about 50-55 minutes).
- Remove from oven and let the pie rest for 15-20 minutes on a cooling rack before serving warm or at room temperature.
