Classic Hummus & Baked Pita
Whether you spell it hummus or houmous, this classic recipe is simply delicious and super-easy to make. You will always find some in my refrigerator along with some cut-up carrots and cucumbers.

Ingredients
- 2 cans chickpeas (drained & washed)
- 4 teaspoons tahini
- 2 cloves garlic (crushed)
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 6 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 4 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 3-4 ice cubes
- Coriander, cilantro, or parsley leaves (for garnish)
- 6 6-inch whole wheat pitas
- 1 tablespoon zatar seasoning
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Cut each pita into 8 wedges.

Pour olive oil into bowl and add zatar seasoning.

Brush both sides of each pita slice with olive oil mixture and arrange on baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes.

While pita is baking, in food processor, add all ingredients and process until smooth. Add more ice cubes if needed.

Spoon into bowl and top with 2 tablespoons olive oil, then garnish with more zatar seasoning and coriander, cilantro, or parsley leaves.

Remove pita from oven and serve with hummus.
